Second year at University of Göttingen: Module 6

Thesis

 

The thesis should preferably cover topics related to forest and nature management under changing climate conditions. The topic should include qualitative and quantitative methods and can be chosen in agreement with one of the forest faculty members. The research must be carried out in agreement with established scientific principles and reported according to scientific standards.

 

Field work, analysis and thesis writing have to be done within 6 months. The thesis work flow should be: 1. Completion of the obligatory Research Planning course by end of January, the course includes the identification of thesis topic, thesis supervisors and the elaboration of a detailed research plan, 2. Finalisation of practical aspects in February, including travel arrangements, fund raising and registering the thesis, 3. Fieldwork/ data collection from March through May, 4. Data analysis and thesis writing from June to August, submission of the thesis by end of August. Subject and research plan must be decided in collaboration with the supervisor. The thesis must be written in English.
